Los Colores de la Montaña exceeds Hollywood’s box office


Latin American cinema is gaining more strength. The Colombian film competed with Hollywood movies and won.

Los colores de la montaña, from Colombian director, Carlos Cesar Arbeláez, appropriated the box office. At it’s premiere collected 53.492 viewers well above Hollywood films as: Invasión del mundo, Batalla Los Ángeles and Marte Necesita Mamás.

Los colores de la montaña exhibited in 58 screens, with an average of 923 viewers per screen. For its part the mega production Invasión del mundo: Batalla Los Ángeles, shown in 128 screens with an average of 690 viewers per screen. And finally in third place we find Marte necesita mamás, exhibited in 99 screens, which resulted in 484 viewers per screen.

The Colombian film, which recently won the audience award at the 51st Festival Internacional de Cine de Cartagena de Indias, narrates the story of Manuel, Julián y Poca Luz, three country children, united by an inseparable friendship, of those that only occur in school. One day, playing football, the new ball they all want and one of their true escapes from reality, ends in the middle of a minefield. To save them will become an adventure forcing them to quickly grow up, will make them love life and will allow them to understand that the country chosen for them is not a fairy tale and that hope and dreams, are just that.
