La Reina del Sur and its historic record audience on Telemundo


Will premiere in a few weeks in Spain’s Antena 3.

The telenovela La Reina del Sur made its debut last week in Telemundo, according to data from Nielsen it reached historic ratings for the network. An average totaling 2.4 million viewers, a historic record debut in this gender for Telemundo.
A total of 779,000 females ranging in age between 18-49 years old and 775,000 males in the same age range, furthermore, its premiere was viewed by 895,000 adults between 18 and 34 years old.
The star is Kate del Castillo, its director is Walter Doehner and it was produced in locations in Colombia, Mexico and Spain.
Based on the novel by Arturo Perez Reverte this story of 60 chapters, narrates the life of Teresa Mendoza, a Mexican woman born in Culiacan, Sinaloa who moves to Spain where she gets involved in smuggling networks and drug trafficking until she makes it all the way up to the throne in drug trafficking.
La Reina del Sur will begin broadcasting in Spain’s Antena 3 and will be a part of Telemundo’s catalogue in the upcoming MIPTV 2011 in Cannes – France.
Scarcely a week on the air, it is a phenomenon in the Hispanic Television.
