In Mexico: The media unite to come to an agreement for the treatment of coverage regarding the violence issues.


More than 60 media directors of communications among them Emilio Azcarraga, Presidente of Televisa and Ricardo Salinas Pliego, President of Azteca are part of the agreement, and TVMAS was in attendance.

Due to high indexes of violence registered against Mexican journalists by organized crime during this past decade more than 60 media communications directors of Mexico, hundreds of academia, social organizers civilians and businesmen among others signed an Agreement of Informative Coverage of Violence, its sole purpose to guarantee the freedom of expression because of the violence facing Mexico, as well as the union and solidarity among communication media against any threat or action of organized crime.

The event was organized with 2011 edition of the Mexico Initiative at the National Museum of Anthropology and History in Mexico City, where TVMAS was in attendance. This is the first agreement, in Latin America, which establishes the creation of a citizen’s observatory watchdog.
